18 Apr 13 | Easier Application Process for Production Finance

Screen NSW has substantially simplified the application process for its Production Finance Fund.

From May 2013, producers who are applying for production finance from both Screen NSW and Screen Australia may submit their Screen Australia application form and materials to Screen NSW, with the addition of only a short supplementary Screen NSW application form relating to the NSW requirements.

21 Apr 13 | NSW developing Arts and Cultural Policy

The Minister for the Arts, George Souris, recently announced the appointment of a five-member reference group to guide the work on the State’s first Arts and Cultural Policy and a complimentary review of the Arts NSW Arts Funding Program. The Cultural Policy will outline a 10-year vision for the sector.

10 May 13 | The Exchange: A 10-minute drama development initiative

Screen Australia’s Indigenous Department and ABC’s Indigenous Department are calling on published Indigenous novelists of narrative fiction to submit ideas for short film development. The Exchange Initiative challenges writers to put forward story ideas with a maximum of two main characters, up to two minor characters and up to two locations.

13 May 13 | HIVE Production Fund call for entries

An initiative of the Adelaide Film Festival, the second HIVE Production Fund is calling for screen-based project entries from Australian artists and filmmakers.

The $800,000 Hive Production Fund assists original and ambitious arts films with bold and imaginative cross-platform ideas and strategies. Successful projects will premiere at the 2015 Adelaide Film Festival and will also screen on ABC Television.

The Sapphires continues its solid run in the US, after adding 20 more screens taking its box office to a total of $US1.1 million.The Sapphires is showing on fewer screens than all but one other film in the top echelon, Robert Redford's new release The Company You Keep.

The NSW Premier's Literary Awards 2013 shortlsts have been announced.

The Betty Roland Prize of $30,000 for Script Writing is offered annually for the screenplay of a feature-­length fiction film, for the script of a documentary film, for the script of a play or documentary for radio, or for the script of a television program (whether fiction or non-­fiction).
