6 Dec 13 | NSW Government welcomes Angelina Jolie's UNBROKEN to NSW
Director Angelina Jolie and her cast and crew arrived in Sydney in November to begin filming the international feature film Unbroken. Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner announced that the production will inject millions of dollars into the NSW economy and creating more than 300 full-time equivalent jobs for NSW-based crew alone, and more for cast and extras. Unbroken is backed by major Hollywood studio Universal Pictures.

06 Dec 13 | Screen NSW announces Production Finance Fund rounds for 2014
Screen NSW has announced its production finance fund round dates for 2014. Five rounds will be held, including a supplementary round open to feature film and children’s animation projects with a completion guarantee, closing on 29th January 2014 for consideration by the Screen NSW board on 3rd April 2014.

06 Dec 13 | Screen NSW announces two Aurora Script Development projects
Aurora, Screen NSW’s intensive script development program, has selected two projects for 2013-14.
This year’s Aurora format differs from previous years. In place of the week-long workshop, the two projects have been selected for intensive one-on-one development support from a world-class mentor, in a process specifically tailored to the projects’ needs.

06 Dec 13 | Screen and Media Industry Indigenous Employment Program
The Screen and Media Industry Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) creates opportunities for Indigenous Australians in sectors including newspapers, new media, film and televsion.
Employers may be eligible for funding up to $11,400 per person and up to $7500 for training. The roles can be full-time, part-time or project based and can be within any department including production, admin, creative, technical, finance, events, sales and marketing.

DocWeek has widened the search to unearth the hottest up and coming documentary talent in the Asia Pacific region, transforming the successful F4 Award for Australian Documentary Talent into the ‘Asia Pacific New Documentary Program’. A selection of films from emerging filmmakers across the Asia Pacific region will be showcased during DocWeek in Adelaide, 4-9 March 2014.

Screen NSW congratulates the team behind The Rocket which has won the Audience Award at the Leeds International Film Festival, beating Gravity to the top prize.

The Australian film industry has united to host a tribute to the late Dennis O’Rourke, at the Chauvel Cinema, Paddington on December 7th.
One of Australia most distinguished international documentary filmmakers, O’Rourke died on June 15th this year. His highly personal, innovative and iconographic films have become cinema classics, acclaimed and studied throughout the world.

27 Feb 14 | Sydney Film Festival open for submissions
Entries are now open for the 61st annual Sydney Film Festival, which runs from Wednesday 4 June until Sunday 15 June, 2014.
2014 will mark the 44th year of the Festival presenting its Australian short film competition, making it the oldest short film competition in Australia. Since 1970, the competition has served as launch pad for emerging Australian film talent, spring-boarding countless directors, producers and actors down a path to international success.
