There are lots of great new courses at AFTRS Open. New Structures In Screenwriting with Linda Aronson on advanced theories and techniques for creating original story design is coming to Sydney and Melbourne. The Online course Screenwriting For Film starts in February as does Peter James’ Anamorphic Lens Masterclass, and in May there’s Finding Animation with PIXAR artists Matthew Luhn (Story Supervisor), Andrew Gordon (Directing Animator) and Bobette Buster (Script Consultant to Pixar, Sony and Disney).

03 Feb 14 | New York Film Academy opens in Sydney

International film and acting school, The New York Film Academy, has opened a brand new campus in Sydney.

The state-of-the-art facility, currently undergoing final stages of completion on the corner of Pitt Street and Liverpool Street, is already taking enrolments for the government-accredited One-Year Acting and One-Year Filmmaking diploma courses, as well as short and evening courses, and will officially opened its doors to students on 30 January.

Entries are now open for the 61st annual Sydney Film Festival, which runs from Wednesday 4 June until Sunday 15 June, 2014.

2014 will mark the 44th year of the Festival presenting its Australian short film competition, making it the oldest short film competition in Australia. Since 1970, the competition has served as launch pad for emerging Australian film talent, spring-boarding countless directors, producers and actors down a path to international success.
