Northern Rivers Screenworks has announced three talented writers from the Northern Rivers region as the winners of an opportunity to escalate their screen writing careers. The three winners - Byron resident Jonathan Gilbert, Bangalow resident Brett Stephens and Nimbin resident Triny Roe - all recently submitted examples of their script writing as part of their application to the Screenworks’ Inside the Writers' Room Program.

Screen NSW congratulates Animal Logic on The LEGO Movie's nomination for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.

The category includes competition from How To Train Your Dragon 2, Big Hero 6, The Book Of Life and The Boxtrolls.

The AACTA Awards are a continuum of the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards, which have honoured screen excellence in Australia since 1958. The AACTA Awards recognise film, television and documentary screen craft excellence - including screenwriting, producing and acting, through to cinematography, composition and costume design - across over 40 Awards.

Metro Screen in collaboration with Screen Australia will commission three NSW filmmaking teams (producer, director, writer) in 2015 to produce short films to be assessed for broadcast on ABC2 television.

Funding between $20,000 and $60,000 is available to support professional arts projects for people with disability in NSW.

Arts and cultural organisations, disability organisations, partnerships and groups are eligible apply. The funding will support projects that increase the involvement of people with disability in arts and cultural activities. The funding aims to improve social outcomes for people with disability.

The festival will run 3 - 14 June 2015 across Sydney. 2015 marks the 45th year of the Festival presenting its Australian short film competition, making it the oldest short film competition in Australia.
