When selecting post-production, digital and visual effects facilities (e.g. recording studios, post-houses) ask about their sustainability credentials – look at the list of suggested questions found under Facilities.

The VFX Department can contribute positively to a production’s sustainability goals in three main ways: minimising paper use (for shot sheets etc), being conscious of energy efficiency and suggesting visual rather than practical effects be used for sequences involving such things as major earthworks, fires and collisions.

The VFX Department can also work closely with Construction to rent/reuse green and blue screens.  

Other suggested actions:

• Use digital dailies
• Recycle electronic waste
