05 Dec 11 | Screen NSW funded projects receive 55 AACTA Awards Nominations

Screen NSW-funded film and television programs have received a stunning 55 AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) Awards Nominations.

This includes:

• Five feature films - The Hunter, Mad Bastards, Oranges and Sunshine, Sleeping Beauty, and Griff The Invisible.

• Five television programs - East West 101 Series 3, Paper Giants: The Birth Of Cleo, Laid, My Place and Rake.

• Two feature documentaries - Mrs Carey's Concert and The Tall Man.

• One short film - Waiting for the Turning of the Earth.

The Hunter, the debut feature from director Daniel Nettheim, was the standout, seizing 14 nominations and going head-to-head with veteran Fred Schepisi's adaptation of Patrick White's The Eye Of The Storm.

In a sign of the industry's depth and strength this year, the AACTA nominations were spread across 14 feature films, 14 documentaries, four short animations, six short fiction films and 23 television productions.

Screen NSW congratulates all nominees and wishes them all the best for the Awards night, which is being held on 31 January 2012.
