Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment and Regional Infrastructure and Services Andrew Stoner encouraged Northern Rivers businesses to apply for NSW Government funding and support to help create new jobs in the region.
Mr Stoner said round one of applications for funding and other support through the Northern Rivers Jobs Plan opened today (July 16) and would close on August 24.
The Jobs Plan, announced by the NSW Government last week, provides a range of support including grants, payroll tax rebates and infrastructure contributions to foster business growth and jobs creation.
“The Northern Rivers has experienced a number of structural changes in recent time, affecting jobs in the region. This new Jobs Plan is designed to help the region weather these changes,” Mr Stoner said.
“The range of assistance that will be provided by this plan is designed to help eligible Northern Rivers businesses position themselves and the local economy for a sustainable and positive future.”
Mr Stoner said there had been strong preliminary interest from a number of Northern Rivers businesses since the Jobs Plan was announced.
“A number of local businesses have approached NSW Trade & Investment officers with expansion proposals that could create significant numbers of new jobs,” he said.
“Today is the official opening for round one of funding applications through the Jobs Plan. I encourage local businesses to take advantage of this potential support to help secure their future.”
