After dominating charts and airwaves for eighteen months, ABBA stepped onto Australian soil for a sell-out concert tour in by far their biggest market. This overwhelming encounter with pop royalty affected everyone from politicians to paparazzi; even the Queen (a guaranteed crowd puller) played second fiddle to the music cult phenomenon that was ABBA. The chant, “WE WANT ABBA!” would echo around the nation for the next fifteen days.
