      Synopsis

On Monday February 28 1977, the headline of the Daily Mirror simply stated “THEY’RE HERE!” above a photo of 4 Swedes. No further explanation was needed- all of Australia knew exactly who “they” were. After dominating charts and airwaves for eighteen months, ABBA stepped onto Australian soil for a sell-out concert tour in by far their biggest market. This overwhelming encounter with pop royalty affected everyone from politicians to paparazzi; even the Queen (a guaranteed crowd puller) played second fiddle to the music cult phenomenon that was ABBA. The chant, “WE WANT ABBA!” would echo around the nation for the next fifteen days.

‘Brush’ is a psychological love story. The film is about a young painter, Aaron, who has just proposed marriage to his long time girlfriend, Beth. She meets, Silas, the son of a rich art dealer and initiates an affair. The story follows the emotional and mental breakdown of the characters as their selfish actions catapult all three lives into a maelstrom that devastates their worlds. Synopsis

The film Careless Love is set in the aftermath of the world financial crisis when many have lost their jobs and thousands their homes. The story centres around Linh, a Vietnamese-Australian university student from a remote country town who is studying at Sydney University. Her father, in the building trade, lost his job a few months before the film starts, and the family's home is likely to be repossessed. Linh starts working three nights a week as an escort, sending money home and also using it to avoid getting into debt through her university course. She believes she can separate her normal life from her work, and the film focuses on the challenges involved establishing an identity independently of how others – and society - perceive us. When her carefully partitioned worlds threaten to collide, Linh's life and fictions become ever more tenuous.

The themes in his films - isolation, faith, hope, love, survival - reoccur throughout his life’s work. But above all else Paul Cox’s films are about human frailty. Now he must confront his own frailty and look into that mirror darkly. Battling cancer, Paul needs a liver transplant within the next six months or he will surely die. Whilst waiting, he stays marooned at home, contemplating his life and his work, unable to escape except in the imagination.

Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing has created this beautiful and heart wrenching story of two lifelong friends who fall in love with each other’s teenaged sons. Adapted by Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton, this is an erotic tale of misguided love and a celebration of the enduring nature of female relationship.
