Nothing left to binge watch on Netflix or just tired of your couch? With winter almost out of the way, the film festival season is kicking off again. To get you back in the festival mood we’ve put together a quick taste of what’s happening over the next month.
Persian International Film Festival | 7-10 September 2017
The full program for the 6th Persian International Film Festival has been announced and tickets are now available. This year, the Festival is proud to present Australian premieres, award-winning animations and an adaptation of Dostoyevsky’s ‘Crime and Punishment’ set in modern-day Tehran. Plus, don't miss films by prominent female directors, and a special tribute to the highly influential Iranian filmmaker, Amir Naderi.

Lebanese Film Festival | 25 August – 9 September
It's back! Thousands of film-goers are heading to Bankstown to participate in the cultural experience of the Lebanese Film Festival.
Each year, the Lebanese Film Festival Association strives to challenge itself in creating an event that is inspiring, challenging and captures the imaginations of its audience. The Sydney Underground Film Festival | 14-17 September
It’s SUFF time again. This festival will be opening with the riotous ‘Found Footage Festival’ live on stage – and close with one of the most controversial and jaw dropping films of the year, Kuso. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Queer Screen Film Fest 2017 | 19 September - 8 October
The 5th Queer Screen Film Fest, brought to you by Queer Screen is back on Tuesday 19 September until Sunday 24 September at Event Cinemas, George Street and from Friday 6 October until Sunday 8 October at Mount Vic Flicks, Blue Mountains. Get ready for 20 of the best GLBTIQ films from around the globe.

Sydney Latin American Film Festival | 7-11 September
The 12th annual Sydney Latin American Film Festival (SLAFF) is only two weeks away, kicking off this September 7-11! Returning to Dendy Opera Quays, the Festival will screen a specially curated program of captivating contemporary Latin American cinema: eight feature films, two documentaries, and seven shorts, along with vibrant opening and closing night parties, over five jam-packed days.
From stories of human resilience, to political turmoil and redemption, the 2017 program focusses on diversity and representation, providing engaging insight into the vast cross-section of Latin American cultures.
