Film and Television Industry Advisory Committee
The Film and Television Industry Advisory Committee was created in mid-2014 and acts as an independent advisory body. Its functions are to advise the Minister for the Arts on the operation of the film and television industry in New South Wales as required, and to provide certain specific advice to the Department (through Create NSW) as set out in regulations.
The Committee is comprised of no more than seven members who are appointed by the Minister. The Chairperson is to be a member appointed from outside the film and television industry, and all other members are to have relevant experience in the film and television industry.

These advisory functions support the work of Create NSW, which is an office within the Department of Trade and Investment with an allocated annual budget. Screen NSW operates within the Department’s annual reporting, financial reporting and Audit and Risk Committee frameworks in carrying out its role to assist and support the screen sector in NSW.
Under the regulations, the Committee has the following functions:
- to consider recommendations relating to production funding and to advise the department in relation to those recommendations;
- to advise the department in relation to the annual allocation of program funding between all film and television funding programs administered by the department;
- to advise the department in relation to individual film and television industry funding programs administered by the department and, where appropriate, to recommend changes to existing funding programs and guidelines;
- to advise the Minister on the strategic direction of the film and television industry in NSW.
The Film and Television Industry (Advisory Committee) Regulation 2014 also deals with the composition, procedure and terms of office of the Committee and its members.
