Synopsis

A young Tibetan boy, who dreams of adventure, lives in a world where aristocrats and monks ruled a society scarcely touched by time. His world is torn apart when poverty forces his family to flee across the Himalayas to Nepal, where he works as a servant. Determined to make something of his life, and redeem his family’s dignity, he runs away to Darjeeling to seek work on climbing expeditions. Charismatic, friendly, and above all determined, his resourcefulness and ambition win him the respect of every leader who hires him – and of his own people too. On his seventh trip to Everest, Tenzing reaches the summit, and becomes a powerful symbol to millions around the world.
