Sydney Film Festival secures $5m in epic opening night
The 66th Sydney Film Festival launched on Wednesday night to a packed State Theatre, a Create NSW-funded film (Palm Beach) and a $5 million boost from Create NSW to the festival announced by the Premier.

Submissions are now open for the 2019 Persian Film Festival! If you are a filmmaker from Iran, Afghanistan or Tajikistan, anywhere in the world, the Persian Film Festival would love your submissions! The competition for Best Feature and Best Short Film awards is now open, with a jury of five international and Australian filmmakers set to select the winner of the Golden Gazelle Award in each category. Applications close 15 July.
