Screen NSW launches 360 Vision App & AFTRS joins 360 Vision development initiative as an official partner

Screen NSW today launched its Virtual Reality app, 360 Vision.

Developed by Triggar VR, the 360 Vision app is compatible with Apple and Android and available to download from app stores.

Via the app audiences will be able to view work by leading VR producers including Tracey Taylor from The Pulse VR (Remember) and Jumpgate VR’s Piers Mussared (Madeleine, Classics Unwrapped).

The app will also be compatible with Oculus in the coming weeks.

Triggar VR has developed Virtual Reality apps for clients including Airbus and the United Nations and is currently working closely with Google.  Triggar is also involved in next week’s 360 Vision VR lab.

It was announced today that AFTRS will partner in 360 Vision, with Screen NSW, ABC, Screen Australia and Event Cinemas.  This groundbreaking Virtual Reality development initiative kicks off with the June 7 lab intensive.

“VR offers incredible opportunities for our industry and we’re only just beginning to understand the possibilities that can evolve from merging VR technology with narrative storytelling. AFTRS is very pleased to be joining with the 360 Vision partners on this important development initiative,” said AFTRS CEO Neil Peplow.

Screen NSW CEO Courtney Gibson said that, through the 360 Vision development program and the accompanying app, Screen NSW is developing pathways for both screen content creators and local audiences to explore VR.

“AFTRS has been front and centre supporting the development and production of virtual reality content, including the upcoming work "VR Noir", the trailer of which we will premiere next week on the 360 Vision app,”Courtney said.

“We need our most creative and forward-thinking film and television producers, writers and directors to be involved in this space and we need audiences to start seeking our local VR content.  360 Vision is about bringing both of these ideas together.”

The 360 Vision app will regularly feature new content from Australian and international VR producers.  News on updates will be posted on Screen
