Urban Indigenous Artist Exchange Program Call For Entries
The Urban Indigenous Artist Exchange Program will create an opportunity for an Indigenous visual artist to travel to Canada.
The exchange will focus on building networks, economic capacity, an understanding of cultural values and expand Indigenous artistic practice internationally.
An Indigenous visual artist will have the opportunity to live and work in Canada for up to 3 months. The artist would be encouraged to participate in projects produced by the Canada studio program and interact with the local community.
The successful applicant will receive $16,500 which will be used to travel to Canada (including travel insurances), for living expense and artworks material. Accommodation will be provided by the host organisation The Darling Foundry, Montreal (www.fonderiedarling.org ). The residency will occur from July to September 2011.
The Urban Indigenous Artist Exchange Program is a reciprocal 3 year agreement between Parramatta Artists Studios and Canada Council for the Arts with The Darling Foundry Montreal, Canada. The Parramatta Artists Studios will provide the same opportunity for a Canadian Indigenous artist to travel to Parramatta for up to 3 months to live and work.
Applications are sort from Indigenous visual artists living in New South Wales and who are willing to contribute to the local Indigenous community.
